Should I add something to my humidifier water to prevent bacteria from developing and entering the air we breathe?
A better way to ask that I which is what I added to prevent bacteria and mold from water for free? Are there home remedies or what is best to buy to add to water? And the use of distilled water better than tap water right?
Try Humidifier bacteriostatic Treatment. It is manufactured by Bemis Essick. Helps control bacteria / accumulation of algae, removes odors and is used in evaporative humidifiers. We use ours. Also, if your water is hard, you get the white mineral buildup the distiller may be preferable in this case. Good Luck.
