What happens when lightning strikes over a pond, lake or sea?
I have some fascination with thunderstorms and, recently, during a violent storm arises a question in my mind: What happens when lightning strikes over a pond, lake or sea? We know that water carries electricity … also does that when lightning strikes in these waters like a fish and mammals that live in these waters are electrocuted? If electricity is transported through the water, will spread far of electric current?
That's a good question. I know that use a type of electrical device when an inventory of fish stocks. Is discharged fish without killing them and eventually releasing them. Here are some articles I found. http://www.usatoday.com/tech/columnist/aprilholloday/2004-03-05-wonderquest_x.htm http://www.faqfarm.com/Q/If_lightning_strikes_the_ocean_while_you_are_in_it_how_close_does_the_strike_have_to_be_for_you_to_feel_it http://ask. yahoo.com/19990819.html
