What is the origin of an angel and devil sitting on the shoulder of a person giving advice?

Simply whether there is another historical origin its use in cartoons.

I guess people have always known that there are shades of gray in each of us, good and bad in everyone. U Remember when I wanted to do was to take revenge, but what ended up making U-what? (just a scenario that can relate to). Freud did not know how historical (19th to mid 20th century), but Freud's psycho-analyst – Infact, the father of psychology and psychiatry as we see it. He said that our mind has three parts: the ego, id and superego. id is the seat of our desires primary deficiency of all the pleasures of the world, without thinking how it would affect us or others. superego is the component that develops as we grow, we are told what is good – they do is harmful to others – do not, begins to form at the bottom when children are told by their parents about what is morally and ethically correct, what is right, what is bad, how u must conform to society, so the ego is actually decided if you listen to the pursuit of pleasure or part of temperance, the teaching part. It's just the decisions that decide whether or getting wet in the rain without trouble falling the patient, or to refrain from U, the thought of having to attend this course or lost if it was called the flu. Well, it lasted, I stop here. i dont have links to sites that explain this better, but I think u can google 'Freud's ego and superego id', to verify the results. Apart from this historical perspective, I can not think of anything else that people think they have shades of gray in them, as I mentioned earlier.
